Will Power

Someone mentioned on the roomie's forum the other day about willpower.  How the human will can be a powerful thing sometimes. From the most extreme of making ones self immune to pain to the miniscule task of just getting up and going to work every morning.

Well I had such a battle of wills this morning my will damn near lost. I very nearly called in to work, but one I don't want to use my vacation time as I've been saving up to go away this summer and I'm going to need all the time I can get. So the only other option is to use sick leave. But then my contience tugs at me and when I do call in sick without being sick I feel guilty. It was so different when I knew I wasn't getting paid if I didn't come in. I didn't really care much then. But I bit the bullet and decided to drag my lazy butt to work this morning, granted I was almost a half hour late but meh. Oh well.

Day before yesterday was a bit rough. Not a bad day in general, it was beautiful out, no clouds in the sky. Work was fine. But in the afternoon we took our last remaining dog, the rottweiler, to be put to sleep. She just turned 12 in March and the people at the vet's office said she was the oldest Rottweiler they had ever seen. I went with dad this time and sat with him and the dog when they gave her the shot. It is really as they say, she just lays down and goes to sleep. Her heart stops beating and she just never wakes up. Heartbreaking really but it was more heartbreaking to see her want to get up and her body not letting her. This was the more humane decision to give her peace than to make her suffer by keeping her alive.
Two dogs in six months though really sucks. I'm at peace though. I know she's better off and not in anymore pain.

Humanity is crueler to its own kind than it is to their pets. Which I think is sad but thats the way the world turns.

Now to clean the turtle tank.. Its growing things that shouldn't be growing.. Nasy.. Brownish-green.. Fuzzy.. Things..
